| Question: | Hi! I don't drive an
eclipse but I do have a '95 mirage, 1.5 liter engine, around 78,000 miles. I have to crank my car more than once for it to start in the mornings. It starts fine any other time of the day after that initial start. The battery went dead a few days ago and replaced that but now my car cuts off whenever I have to stop (like at at sign or light etc.) It cranks right back up and runs as long as I don't have to stop. This cutting off didn't happen before the battery replacement. Does this sound like I need a tune up or new spark plugs? My last one was a year and a half ago and I also replaced the oxygen sensor then as well. If not what could it be? Thanks in advance for you help. |
| Answer: | T, A tune up is definately a good idea. Have your spark plugs, spark plug wires, and distributor replaced. Your air filter should also be changed. During your tune-up have your alternator and ignition coil checked. If you've never replaced your timing belt, this is a good time to do it. It should be changed every 50k-60k miles; even if it looks good. Your idle speed may need to set as well. Good luck! |
