| Answer: | Adam, Firstly, stop going to GoodYear for your repairs! They obviously don't know what they're doing. For a car as advanced as a 2G Eclipse Spyder Turbo, those franchise mechanics have no clue; or at least its rare they know. Other than their ignorance of your car, these mechanics are overlooking the tensioner. They are making the belts way too tight, and that's why they keep breaking. They probably squeek more at night because its cooler and the pulleys contract in size. And because those mechanics tighten those belts incorrectly, they keep slipping on the pulleys. Same reason for squeaks in low gears. Low gears have more torque on the pulleys and the incorrectly torqued belts slip. Find a knowledable mechanic that knows what they're doing. If you have any doubt in the mechanics near you, go to the Mitsubishi dealership to have the belts replaced. See if you can get GoodYear to pay the bill for the Mitsu mechanic repairs. You deserve some compensation for their crappy work. Good luck! |
