Subject: 2.4l engine coil over plug ??s
Question:

Hello I have an 01 stratus coupe w/ a 2.4l mitsu engine my ignition coil over plug 2 keeps going out (this will be the 3rd one I've bought in about a year)so my ??'s are

1.Are there any known issues or recalls on this problem?

2.If not what could possibly keep causing this thing to
fail so quickly?

3.Could you possibly give me a cross-search listing
the years and models (mitsu and/or dodge) that have this
engine package

Any info is appreciated @ $160 a pop it's getting to be
a financial burden especially feeling the next one will
crap out in less than a year as well. Don't think it
matters but it's a standard transmission oh and the 2
I already bought were new not salvage

To date, there have been 6 recalls issued for your car, but none dealing specifically with anything in your ignition system. You can contact any Dodge dealership service department and ask them if your car has any outstanding recalls that have yet to be performed. Have your VIN ready to give them when you ask about the recalls.

This problem could be happening due to a poor connection to the coil; like a short circuit or poor ground. Sometimes even an improper spark plug or gapping can cause excessive heat or arcing that could cause an issue.

Unfortunately, I do not what else had used that particular engine for that year. But when you contact the your Dodge dealership service department, you can ask them and they should be able to provide more information.
