| Subject: | 1992 plymouth colt vista 2.4 mitsubishi engine |
| Question: |
I have a 1992 Pymouth Colt Vista with the 2.4 Mistubishi engine.
I bought it a month ago and the first week it was fine but now it hesitates
alot and eventually dies. It acts like it isn't getting enough gas. I
have had two different mechanics look at it and one said moisture in the
gas tank, I treated that three times. The other said he ran a diagnostic
on it and the only thing it said was plug wires. I replaced the plug wires.
I have had friends tell me the fuel pump and others say that if it was
that it would just quit. If I pump the gas constantly and quickly I can
drive it but it doesn't go over 30 mph. Please help me! |
| Answer: | Julia, This could be an emmissions problem. You may have a clogged EGR valve, PCV valve, faulty O2 sensor, or even a clogged catalytic converter. A worning timing belt and/or fault belt tensioner can also cause this. You need a more experienced mechanic to check these items because the mechanics you already brought your car to may not have checked them. If you cannot find a mechanic experienced with the Colt Vista, you may need to visit your Chrysler or Mitsubishi dealership for help. Good luck! |
