| Subject: | Mitsubishi Diamante Making Noise |
| Question: | Hello, I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante LS. The vehicle has 11,000 miles on it. Recently I noticed that suddenly the vehicle got louder then it used to be. It is especially loud when accelerating and 3 out of 5 times when going from a full stop, it makes a slight grinding noise when the accelerator is pressed. It also seems to vibrate more then it used to. Originally I thought that maybe I accidentally put regular gas instead of super in it so I waited until the tank was almost empty and made sure to put in super gasoline. Nothing changed. I'm now on my 3rd full tank of gas and everything is still the same, so I can rule out that it is the wrong gasoline. I also checked all the fluids in the car and everything is good. I am very new at driving and vehicles, however other prople that drive this car also noticed that it got louder, vibrates more and seems slower during acceleration. Do you have any idea what could be causing this? Thank You in Advance. Kamil |
| Answer: | Kamil, I would guess you have a small hole or loose bolt in your exhaust system. That's pretty uncommon on a car as new as yours, but it is possible. Another possibility is that you may have a loose balance shaft belt. Also, not common on a car that is so new, but still possible. I would recommend taking your car to your local Mitsubishi dealership
because whatever may be wrong with your car is most likely covered
by your warranty. That would mean you'd get your car fixed for free. |
