Subject: Crank, no start
Question:

After always starting instantly, my '01 Mitsubishi Diamante (auto trans) cranked
with no start after 12 tries in 2 hours. It suddenly started and has worked
instantly again. What do I fix so it doesn't happen again?

There's a number of things that can cause this.
- A bad starter
- Worn spark plugs
- Weak fuel pressure
- Lack of air entering the intake
- Worn alternator
- Dying battery
- Dirty battery cables

There are many more potential contributors, but those are the main ones. If the problem happens again, I would recommend taking your to a mechanic for a tune-up.
