You should have your transmission checked by a mechanic. When it sticks in one gear, that usually indicates a mechanical failure inside the transmission. You may have a misadjusted linkage, a stuck valve body, or even a worn band. It's possible you'll get lucky and it may be a simple part replacement, but your mechanic may suggest a transmission rebuild.

Take your car to a speciality transmission shop. Your average mechanic garage may not be equipped to handle the tranny in your car. A transmission shop will be better equipped and will have more experience.
