| Question: |
The van had a broken timing belt - could you please tell me what
position the cam (cam wheel marked with a dot)is supposed to be when the
crank is at tdc. |
| Answer: | Steve, Unfortunately, I don't have experience with that engine for that vehicle. But typically on Mitsubishi engines, there is an alignment mark on the cylinder head that the mark on the cam must line up with. But along with the cam being set to the proper timing mark, the crank sprocket and oil pump sprocket also need to be set to the proper timing mark. This can be hard to set proper if the belt had broke and the engine continued to turn. You may need to have a mechanic set the engine properly in order to truly get the engine set. Good luck! |
