Subject: Space wagon starting 1991 GLXi
Question: Got in the car this morning drove it out of the garage, turned the engine off left it for five minutes then got back in, and it wouldn't start. I have no spark at the plugs, the distributor has been tested on another car and is fine. Something is not right electrically. In recent weeks I've had a new auto gear box fitted. Any suggestions.
Answer: Paul,
Replace your spark plug wires. Even if they look all right, over time the heat from your engine can affect the conductivity of the wires. Those wires should be replaced aevery 30k-35k miles or so. You may have a burned out ignition coil. I doubt your new gear box has anything to do with this problem.

I get many problems from other Mitsubishi owners that have cars as old as yours. Many times, they have unexplained electrical problems as well. Your problem may be related to your ECU (car's computer). The following web page will give you detailed information:

You may want to have your ECU inspected and replaced if necessary.
Good luck!
