| Subject: | Timing Belt Tensioner |
| Question: | 94 Expo with 2.4 eng.
I have replaced the timming belts and having trouble getting the tensioner
set for right tension on main timming belt. Can't find a picture to
show how it works. Thank you for any help you can supply |
| Answer: | Bob, Unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with the Expos. I do know that Mitsubishi uses a specialty tools and very accurate torque wrench to set the tension. The torque wrench they use can measure 0-3 Nm @ +- 3% accurancy. But the Expos have single overhead cam engine, so the tension is
not "as critical" as compared to a dual overhead cam engine.
If your tension is not exactly to spec, it wouldn't cause as serious
of problem. |
