| Question: |
I had my front brake pads replaced yesterday and now when I brake
I hear a very low muffled crunchy-groany sort of noise when I stop. The
mechanic said to take it easy with the new brakes for a while, and I am,
but I get that noise. Do you know what it could be or is it just normal?
Thanks. |
| Answer: | Donna, If only the front pads were replaced, but not the rotors, then there will be a break-in period where the pads will wear slightly to any irregularities with the rotors. The noise is normal and should subside after about a week of easy driving. If the noise does not go away after a short period of time, or if the
rotors were replaced with the pads and the noise continues, then take
the car back to your mechanic and have them reinspect the brake components. |
