| Subject: | Mitsubishi Galant Noise |
| Question: | Hi Tony, I own an 98 automatic Mitsubishi Galant ES. I have recently noticed that fairly loud rotating/oscillating noise that starts when my vehicle goes over 45 miles an hour. When I stop at a light or in the parking lot the noise completely ceases. It only happens when the car is moving over a certain speed. Any suggestions/thoughts on what it could be? |
| Answer: | Ojas, Your problem could be a wheel bearing. A worn wheel bearing will make a sort of whining noise as the tire turns faster and faster. You will also want to have your CV-boots and CV-joints inspected. If your CV-boots are torn or leaking, dirt and debris can wear down the CV-joint and cause the symptoms you described. Have a mechanic inspect those areas first for further clearification. Good luck! |
