| Subject: | Sound in the clutch |
| Question: | Alright, my car isn't
a Mitsubishi, but the problem is general I think. I drive a 1992 Pathfinder
XE (Nissan make) and it is a 3.0L v6 engine, manual. It seems that
whenever I begin driving the car in the day, or when I haven't driven
the car for many hours it makes a weird sound. This sound comes when
I put the clutch in my car. It's a very distinct unhealthy sound, but
after maybe a minute it stops. Then when I'm driving it won't come
back again. Maybe a few hours later it will come back again, but in
any case, it is ALWAYS there when I drive it again in the morning. This sound only occurs when my foot is in the clutch, and when I put on the gas it stops, and it will even occur at the stop sign down at my street when I put the clutch into first gear. But after my street it is gone. So I'm very curious, do you know how to solve my problem!?! Thank you soo much for your time. Sincerely, Daniel |
| Answer: | Daniel, Your throwout bearing could be worn out or your pressure plate may be slipping. There's also a good chance your transmission fluid is low and/or very dirty. If the clutch you have on that car now is the original, it may be
time for a new clutch kit and a transmission fluid flush, fill, and
bleed. If you want to try to save some money, then just get the transmission
fluid flushed, filled and bled. That may be all you need. |
