| Question: | My Mitsubishi Mirage
1990, four door, four cylinder, is sputtering down the road as if it
isn't getting gas, or getting too much gas. I have checked the spark
plugs, rotor and cap, wires, all air hoses for the fuel injection,
the fuel injection system itself, and all pipes leading into and out
of it. What could this problem be and what may be causing it? It just
started this two days ago and now I am too afraid to drive it anywhere,
in fear of it breaking down on me. This has happened before in another
car of mine, which had the same symptons. |
| Answer: | Ben, Your problem can be caused by a number of things: -clogged air filter -clogged fuel filter -malfunctioning throttle position sensor -weak/dying fuel pump -timing belt and/or balance belt slipped a few teeth Many early Mitsubishis were found to have faulty ECUs (the car's computer).
Read this article for further information: If your ECU is malfunctioning, then that can cause your car to perform
poorly as you indicated. Have your ECU examined. |
