| Question: | Yesterday I noticed
ABS dash light would come on intermittently. When I parked, my brake
lights stayed on even with all car lights turned off. There is no problem
with car's braking ability. The only way to turn off brake lights is
to pull fuse. Is this a repair that I can do myself or will it need
electronic diagnosis? |
| Answer: | Paul, There is a couple things you can check yourself. One simple thing to check is inside the break fluid resevoir. There is a float that is attached to the switch that turns on the brake light when the fluid gets too low. Check that float to be sure it's free to move and not sticking. A few pokes with a screw driver will do to see if it's sticking or not. Be sure the screwdriver is CLEAN. Your brake pedal may be misadjusted. If the master cylinder is worn, the brake pedal may sink down and that would cause your brake lights to come on even when the car is turned off. There may also be a problem with your car's computer. a qualified technician. You may have a problem with the ABS module itself. |
