| Answer: | Kevin, I don't know if you have an automatic or manual transmission. There were 3 models of Galant that year, but only 2 of them came standard with automatic transmission. If you have a manual transmission, you may have worn out synchronizers or a bad shift link cable. If you have an automatic transmission, it's possible your overdrive is not engaging. I'm not sure if the Galants of that year came with overdrive, but it's worth checking out. Another probable problem could be a malfunction of the end clutch or piston, or a malfunction of the torque converter. Have a transmission shop inspect your car for the problem. If you
can't find a transmission shop in your area, have the dealership
work on it. |
