Subject: replace crank angle sensor
Question: We tried to find a repair manual to answer this question but none are available in our rural area. What we need is complete instructions and estimated time involved to replace the crank angle sensor on a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 cyl engine.
Answer: Ginger,
If you can't find a repair manual in your area, your best bet is to order one online. Here are a few sites where you can get manuals and additional service information:
http://www.ecanfix.com/~manualcd/index2.htm (entire factory service manual on a CD)
http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.html (lots of great info for all types of Eclipse how-to's)
http://www.dsmtalk.com (advise from others that have Eclipses)

The crank angle position sensor is not difficult to remove/install, so that shouldn't take so long. But you have to align it just right when the #1 cylinder is at TDC. You'll definitely be able to get detailed instructions from any one of those sites.
Good luck!
