Subject: ABS brakes
Question: Hi Anthony,
I have a 95 Mitsubishi 3000Gt SL, I know its not a Eclipse but maybe you can help. This evening the ABS Brake warning light came on but would not go out. I know that if you shut the car off and then start it back up it general goes away, not this time. I also have noticed that once the car is no longer running there is something under the hood that is and it's coming from the passagers side of the car just under the air filter and fuse box. The brakes feel fine (not mushy)please tell me that it is something minor like a sensor. Some how I know it isn't.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Deborah
P.S. This is the first time I have ever hand a problem with the ABS system.
Answer: Deborah,
I'm not too sure what that noise is that you're hearing. It may just be your fuel system depressurizing.

Your ABS light is because the sensor is detecting a problem. You may just a have bad fuse or relay. Those are located under your hood, near the battery. Your problem may also be that there is some air in the brake lines. It doesn't much air to trip the ABS sensor, and you might not be able to detect it with a mushy pedal. Have the car inspected by a qualified mechanic.
Good luck!
