Subject: cruise control

Hello,
I own a mitsubishi 3000gt SL 1996.for some reason i turn on the cruise control switch it says ligths up on and i try to set to cruise. nothing happens. i press the set botton my steering wheel for the cruise contol. so i take off my foot off the gas pedal. it does not set on and the car decreases its speed. please how doi fix this? sensor? orpart change? cuz the lights on dash say it is on. but it does not activate.

One thing that you can try first is to see if there is excessive play in the pedals. If you have a manual transmission, try lifting up with your foot behind the clutch pedal prior to trying to set your cruise control. If you're able to lift it even slightly, that may be enough to set your cruise properly. You can try the same thing with the brake pedal.

Beyond that, you should have a mechanic inspect the cruise control module and cable tension. There's little else you can check yourself.
