Subject: 1993 Mitsubishi 3000 GT SL automatic
Question:

I have a Mitsubishi 3000 GT SL automatic fwd. My car was driving fine. Went to start it, power turned on but it won't start. Doesn't make any attempt to turnover. Prior to this I'd had no problems with the vehicle. The alternator, timing belt and other key parts are good as I've been told. Do you have any answers to why it would be running one day and suddenly stop the next. The battery is brand new and I can't even get the car to jump start off another vehicle. ANy help would gladly be appreciated

Answer: Chris,
If you haven't had your starter inspected, start there. Also, you may have a burnt out starter relay, corroded battery cables on the starter, or a stuck starter solenoid. It's not uncommon for a starter to go bad pretty suddenly if it's been on a car over 10 years.

If the starter, cables, relays, and fuses are all fine, you should check your car's computer. Read this article for further information:

If your ECU is malfunctioning, one of the first signs is failure to start. There usually isn't much or any warning before they go bad. Be sure to have it inspected.
Good luck!
