Question: I Have a 2000 eclipse GT w/anti lock brakes. my brake light keeps coming on.Most of the time I can get it off by just giving gas after I almost stop the car.it will go back on sometimes when i either put on the brake or take my foot off the brake, also at high speeds the wheel will vibrate a little WHEN i only apply the brakes.last when i back out of a parking space and go and straighten my wheel it is sometimes very hard to turn but fine when i am driving.
thanks for your time

Answer: Mike,
The first thing to check when your brake light comes on is to check to make sure your brake fluid reservoir is full. If your fluid is low, your light will come on. You should also make sure there's no leaks or air in your brake lines.

Your wheel vibrates at high speeds when you apply your brakes when you have a warped rotor, unevenly worn brake pads, or even sticky calipers.

The problem you have when backing out of your driveway may not be brake related. Usually hard turing is due to sometime with your power steering. If the problem is only happening when you have a cold engine, that may be due to your power steering fluid being too thick from the cold. By the time you get to high speeds, your engine and fluid are warmed up. Once you get to your destination, park in a space, and immediately reverse as you would with when backing out of your driveway. If you can turn easily, your power steering fluid needs to be checked. There may be excess water in it, or you have the wrong grade of fluid.

I would also recommend checking your parking brake lever and cables to make sure they are not sticking. I had mine stick and that eventually resulted in me warping my rotor because I didn't fix it soon enough.
Good luck!
